Townhouse Inn of Hamilton is a great spot to get some rest; Sugarloaf Peak is a peak you can see from Hart Lake. This lake is so wonderful. So many fun things to do in the Bitterroot Range, not enough time. Not far from Hart Lake, you'll stumble on Tamarack Lake which is a delightful lake, and if you came to camp Boulder Creek Campground is a great place to do that.
There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Bitterroot Range. Why not take a refreshing

| | hike along the Trapper Peak Trail. Lakes? Sure, Tamarack Lake is around here. It is very dried out here at Hart Lake usually; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and July is when it's the driest. The Bitterroot Range scenery is always beautiful.
Man, is there a heap of entertaining things to do near Hart Lake. Hart Lake is right by the Old Nez Perce Indian Trail, also Tamarack Lake Dam is worth checking out if you're here. A wonderful | |

close by hotel is Best Western Hamilton Inn; hey, Gotta ski right? Lost Trail is a splendid site to do that. High temperatures at Hart Lake through the summer months are in the 80's while night lows are regularly in the 40's. The
winter brings highs down to the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Hart Lake temperatures drop to the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Ward Mountain Trail. There's so much to do here at Hart Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Lake Como Campground is a magnificent place for that.

There are trails all up and down the Bitterroot Range. Head south on 93 and look for the signs, Lost Horse, Skalkaho Hwy has a lot. Bass Creek, Sheafman Creek, Fred Burr Trailhead, Roaring Lion, Coyote Coulee, Baker Lake, Trapper Peak, Trapper Creek Chaffin Creek....''Hiking the Bitterroots'' By Mort Arkava is a great book to help you get started....I have only been to a couple of hiking trails in Ravalli County. Tag Alder Lake

I venture up to Tag Alder every year. It is getting more and more difficult to get up there because of the new growth of trees from the fires of 2000. Once there it is beautiful lake. Another half hour hike up and you will be at the summit of the mountain. There is a nice camp area on North shore. Fishing is best in late spring using small spinners or powerbait.... |
