You'll need more than a day to explore everything Gilbert Lake has to offer, you can camp at Beautiful Lake Blaine Resort, and going for a hike on the Doris Creek Trail is always a good adventure. This lake is so wonderful. There are magnificent places to explore along the Alpine Trail, and not far from Gilbert Lake you'll discover Amy Lake which is a striking lake. Whitewater paddling is delightful                  on Flathead River - Middle Fork; a nice nearby hotel is Glacier Park Super 8 Motel. This lake is so wonderful. Brown Gulch is a great spot to discover; there are plenty of folks from Kalispell here. There's some interesting stuff to catch a sight of at Jessup Mill Pond Dam near Gilbert Lake. There's so much to do here at Gilbert Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Lake Blaine Resort Campground is a perfect spot for that. Go for a hike on the Columbia Mountain Trail, and in the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Swan River. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Gilbert Lake. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Gilbert Lake through the wintertime generally plunge into the 10's.
