If you came for an overnight stay Sprague Creek Campground is a perfect location to camp, and you'll hit upon a wonderful lake called Akaiyan Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Lewis Range. Gem Lake gets a typical amount of precipitation; most of the snow falls all through December while April is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Snyder Lake       Trail is always a good adventure; if the weather is lovely, you get a nice sight of Edwards Mountain from Gem Lake. So much exciting stuff to do in the Lewis Range, not enough time. There are fine sites to explore along the Gunsight Pass Trail, and if you're here, you might as well go to Comeau Pass. And if you're still looking for more outdoors fun stuff just keep reading. Camping is available at Avalanche Campground; Avalanche Basin is a glorious place here                  at Gem Lake. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Glacier Park Super 8 Motel is a fine location to spend a night or two, and you should beyond doubt stop at Sperry Glacier during your stay. Akaiyan Falls is a tremendous local attraction, and do pay a visit to Glacier National Park since you're here at Gem Lake. This site, the Lewis Range, has so much outdoors cool things. Don't leave Gem Lake without first going for a hike along the Avalanche Trail; Flathead River - Middle Fork is a great whitewater spot nearby. Summertime highs at Gem Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's.
