    If you are in this part of Montana make sure to pay a visit to Fossil Lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Absaroka Range. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Clarks Fork Yellowstone, and not far from Fossil Lake you'll discover Basin Lake which is a pretty lake. All the outdoors fun stuff in the Absaroka Range will keep you coming back over and over. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Crazy Mountain Trail.  
   The yearly rainfall here at Fossil Lake is about average; the month with most of the rain is June, and October is the month with the least moisture.
High temperatures at Fossil Lake all through the warmest time of the year are in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Fossil Lake sink into the 0's. A good
 
               close by hotel is Big Moose Resort; do take a hike on the Lake Reno Trail. Get your pulse rate up on the nice whitewater of Rosebud Creek - West, and Fossil Lake is right by the Crazy Lakes Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Fox Creek Campground is always a splendid experience, and the top of Bald Knob is easily spotted from Fossil Lake. So much amusing stuff to do at Fossil Lake, so little time. After a long day outdoors Antlers Lodge is a great spot to spend a night or two, and camping is available at Chief Joseph Campground. Fossil Lake is located in the Absaroka Range.
