Good hiking is available along the Bear Gulch Trail, and after a long day outdoors Budget Inn Express is a pleasant spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Forest Lake without first going for a hike along the Sweeney Creek Ecology Trail; get yourself into a kayak and hit Boulder River. But wait, there's more to do in close proximity to Forest Lake. Go for a hike on the Mount Helena       National Recreation Trail, and Chessman Saddle Dam is an exciting thing to check out. This lake is so wonderful. Spruce Hills is a peak you can see from Forest Lake, and Forest Lake is not the only site nearby, Chessman Reservoir is a nearby lake. Castoria Inn is a tremendous place to get some rest; why not camp at Tenmile Campground since you're here at Forest Lake. A great spot to camp here at Forest Lake is Park Lake Campground, and if you like skiing,                  you're in luck; Great Divide is relatively near. Lots of people from Helena come to Forest Lake, and don’t forget to pop by Frohner Basin while you're here at Forest Lake. High temperatures at Forest Lake through the summer are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows during the wintertime for Forest Lake tend to be in the 10's.
