Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Rosebud Creek - East, and one of the main characteristics of the surroundings of Elpestrine Lake is Snowbank Mountain. A short visit to Charlie Falls is always worthwhile, and there's magnificent hiking along the Copeland Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Elpestrine Lake,       you could also explore pretty Glissade Lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Absaroka Range. Bergschrund Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at; while you're here, you could check out Falls Creek. There's so much to do here at Elpestrine Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Crazy Creek Campground is a splendid spot for that; don't leave Elpestrine                  Lake without first going for a hike along the Lake Reno Trail. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Elpestrine Lake.
