If you are in Missoula county it's always a good idea to stop by Elbow Lake. The panorama of Boyd Mountain from Elbow Lake is beautiful; Elbow Lake is a place with many visitors from Missoula. There's so much to do here at Elbow Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Salmon Lake Campground is a pleasant location for that, and of course Lost Horse Creek flows through this area. Summertime highs at Elbow Lake mostly tend to be in the 80's. Summer nighttime

| | lows plunge down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Elbow Lake. Near Elbow Lake you stumble on the Pyramid Pass Trail which is a fine hiking trail, and there are perfect sites to look at along the Dunham Trail. Elbow Lake is usually a quite dried out spot; most of the snow falls throughout January, and July meanwhile is the driest month. That right there is a lot already, but it carries on; | |

Elbow Lake has it all. Going for a hike on the Blackfoot Divide Trail is always a nice adventure. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Russell Gates Memorial Campground is a perfect spot to do that, and whitewater paddling is tremendous on Blackfoot River.
