     Thompson Lake is a splendid lake right next door to Diamond Lake; if you're stopping by from Bozeman, you won't be the only one. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Diamond Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Gallatin River. There's so much to do here at Diamond Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Elkhorn is a great place for that. There's no such thing as a bad day of  
   skiing at nearby Moonlight Basin, and from Diamond Lake you get a delightful sight of Gallatin Peak.
Lakes are such peaceful locations, why not take a look at Chilled Lakes in the vicinity of Diamond Lake, and after a long day outdoors Arrowhead is a glorious spot to spend a night or two. Summertime highs at Diamond Lake commonly tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night
 
               lows all through the wintertime for Diamond Lake tend to be in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Diamond Lake has to offer, you can camp at Castle Rock Inn, and good skiing awaits you at Big Sky.
There are great sites to explore along the Eldridge Trail, and a perfect nearby hotel is Big Sky Resort. Not much precipitation falls here at Diamond Lake; the month with most of the rain is May while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Divide Trail; fine hiking is available along the Wapiti Creek Trail.

There?s this really neat hike a few miles away from us in Big Sky. It starts out near a small pond called Moose Lake, follows a path up some dense forest for a couple of miles, then opens up into these huge rolling meadows surrounded by Cedar Mountain, Pioneer Mountain, and Lone Mountain with a great view of Sphinx Mountain in the distance....
