    The beauty of Cottonwood Lakes is reason enough to stop by. Cottonwood Lakes is pretty waterless typically; January is the wettest month with most snow while July is frequently the driest month. At Cottonwood Lakes through the days of summer highs are in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Cottonwood Lakes. But wait, there's  
   more to do close to Cottonwood Lakes. The Dunham Trail offers hiking at its best, and you'll meet a lot of people from Missoula here.
This lake is so wonderful. There's good hiking along the Pyramid Pass Trail, and Cottonwood Lakes is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Salmon Lake Campground is a perfect local campground. So many fun things to do here in the Lewis Range, too delightful to be true. Good hiking is available along the Blackfoot
 
               Divide Trail. Cottonwood Lakes is one of the lakes here in the Lewis Range.
On a beautiful day you acquire a view of Morrell Mountain from Cottonwood Lakes, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Cott Lake. Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Blackfoot River; not far from Cottonwood Lakes you'll hit upon Tote Road Lake which is a stunning lake. Man, is there heaps of cool things to do in the Lewis Range. Paddling on Flathead River - South Fork is so much fun, and a nice location to camp here at Cottonwood Lakes is Russell Gates Memorial Campground.
