During the summer months highs here at Companion Lake get into the 70's, and the night is rather colder of course, frequently in the 30's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and overnight lows all through the winter for Companion Lake tend to be in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Stillwater River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby,       and hiking is a popular thing to do around Companion Lake; Republic Trail is a wonderful local trail. From a rainfall point of view Companion Lake is a quite common spot; most of the rain falls through June while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Companion Lake is located in the Absaroka Range. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool stuff the area right next door to Companion Lake has to offer. A tremendous close by                  hotel is Super 8 Big Timber; the Pilot Creek Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. Companion Lake is a glorious place to visit for more than one day, Soda Butte Campground is a glorious place to camp nearby. If you love the outdoors you'll love it here in the Absaroka Range. If you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clarks Fork Yellowstone; there are other places here than Companion Lake, for example Astral Lake. Lakes? Sure, Round Lake is in the vicinity; what would a site like Companion Lake be without attention-grabbing close by marks like Alp Rock. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things in the Absaroka Range.
