Boulder River is a glorious whitewater spot right next door to Comet Lake. Be careful coming to the Absaroka Range, you might not ever wanna go back home again. You can run the rapids of Stillwater River near Comet Lake, and there's great hiking along the Thunderer Cutoff Trail. If you need a site to stay Super 8 Big Timber is a good choice; not far from Comet Lake       you'll come across Lake Vengence which is a charming lake. Go for a hike on the Lodgepole Trail; why not camp at Woodbine Campground since you're here at Comet Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Asteroid Lake; don't leave Comet Lake without first going for a hike along the Republic Trail. Comet Lake beyond doubt is in the middle of a charming outdoors paradise. The summit of Two Sisters                  can be observed from Comet Lake, and Soda Butte Campground is a pleasant local campground. This lake is one of the great places here in the Absaroka Range. Comet Lake is pretty dried out mostly; May is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is February. Summertime highs at Comet Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's.
