Going for a hike on the Republic Trail is always a great adventure. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Chalice Lake. There are perfect places to discover along the Thunderer Cutoff Trail; a good location close by is Rabbit Gulch. Near Chalice Lake you hit upon the Lodgepole Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and Chalice Peak is lovely and can be seen from       here. Through the warm days of summer here at Chalice Lake, high temperatures typically reach the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Chalice Lake tend to be in the 10's. Chalice Lake is a location that is relatively waterless regularly; during May this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest. Chalice Lake is a wonderful                  place to visit for more than one day, Hells Canyon Campground is a wonderful place to camp nearby, and lakes are such peaceful spots, why not stop by Lightning Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Absaroka Range. If you want a good time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Absaroka Range. Super 8 Big Timber is a great place to get some rest, and Jay Lake is a magnificent lake close by. This lake is so wonderful.
