Chain Lakes is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Upper Whitefish Campground is a nice local campground; Kristianna Mountain Homes is a wonderful place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Big Mountain is a great local ski area, and camping at Tuchuck Campground is always a great experience. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Chain Lakes. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if       it's for you then we recommend Sunday Creek; Chain Lakes is right by the Whitefish Divide-Smokey Range National Recreation Trail. This lake is so wonderful. The Ralph Thayer Memorial Trail offers hiking at its best. After a long day outdoors Big Mtn. Info. Center is a wonderful site to spend a night or two; Red Meadow is a glorious location to check out. All through the days of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Chain Lakes. Summer night lows sink                  down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Chain Lakes are in the 10's. You get a brilliant view of Lake Mountain from Chain Lakes; why not take a refreshing hike along the Fort Steele Trail. Around Chain Lakes you don’t get a lot of precipitation; June is the month that gets the most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.
