Gnome Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit, and from Cataract Lake you get a brilliant vista of Dutchman Peak. Camping is available at Rock Creek Campground; Hilgard Basin is a glorious site here at Cataract Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Big Sky is a perfect local ski area; a lake nearby is Painted Lake. Good hiking is available along the Wapiti Creek Trail, and if you need a place to stay Sawtelle Mountain Resort is a delightful choice. For the

| | period of the long summer days, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Cataract Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Cataract Lake fall into the 10's. Lake. Why not camp at Beaver Creek Campground 1 since you're here at Cataract Lake, and going for a hike on the Cutoff Trail is always a pleasant adventure. In the event that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater
paddling on Madison River, and you can go for a hike on the Lightning Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Madison River is a fine whitewater spot near Cataract Lake; dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn WEST YELLOWSTONE.
