Throughout the warmest time of the year, highs usually are in the 80's at Carter Lake, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Carter Lake through the winter frequently plunge into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. While       you're here at Carter Lake you will meet lots of folks from nearby Missoula, and a great location for whitewater paddling is Mill Creek. There are other places here than Carter Lake, for example McKinley Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Blue Mountain Equestrian and Hiking Trail. Why not camp at Blue Slide Campground while you're here at Carter Lake, and you can never get enough of the great skiing at Marshall Mountain. Now, you may believe that's a                  lot but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Carter Lake. Not far from Carter Lake, you'll discover Roosevelt Lake which is a beautiful lake, and here at Carter Lake you can catch a sight of Mosquito Peak. Really wonderful skiing awaits you at Montana Snowbowl, and a great nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express MISSOULA-RIVERSIDE. Carter Lake is mostly a relatively dried up site; June is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful.
