You could also stop by Little Carlton Lake while you're here at Carlton Lake; it's nearby, and Super 8 Motel - Missoula/Brooks Street is a great site to get some rest. Carlton Lake is located in the Bitterroot Range. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart pumping on the magnificent whitewater of Mill Creek, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Carlton Lake

A good nearby hotel is Lolo-Days Inn Missoula South/Blue Mountain, and if you came for an overnight stay Fort Fizzle Campground is a glorious spot to camp. Carlton Lake is a location that is relatively arid commonly; during May this area sees the most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. usually in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and night lows in the 10's for Carlton Lake. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! The Bitterroot Range is unbeatable! The top of Lolo Peak is easily seen from
Carlton Lake; you can have a delightful hiking adventure along the Mill Creek Trail. Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more exciting things to do here in the Bitterroot Range. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone
but if it's for you then we recommend Kootenai Creek; Square Dance Center and Campground is a good local campground. Nearby lakes? Sure, North One Horse Lake is near Carlton Lake; if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike along the Sweeney Ridge Trail.

Tag Alder Lake
 | 18 miles away I venture up to Tag Alder every year. It is getting more and more difficult to get up there because of the new growth of trees from the fires of 2000. Once there it is beautiful lake. Another half hour hike up and you will be at the summit of the mountain. There is a nice camp area on North shore. Fishing is best in late spring using small spinners or powerbait.... |
