There's so much to do here at Lake Capitan that you need to camp here for a while,       Bear Creek Pass Campground is a wonderful place for that. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Lake Capitan; North Route Of Old Nez Perce Trail is a great local trail; hey, Gotta ski right? Lost Trail is a great place to do that. The Bitterroot Range scenery is always beautiful. Summertime highs at Lake Capitan typically tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is                  down during the winter temperatures at Lake Capitan descend into the 10's. Having a wonderful time in the Bitterroot Range is easy. Do pop by Elk Lake right next door to Lake Capitan, it's a picturesque lake, and Lake Capitan is great enough to spend more than a day at, Schumaker Campground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Capitan is right by the South Route Old Nez Perce Trail, and One Horn Basin is a good spot to check out.
