It is very dehydrated here at Burnt Gulch Lake typically; May is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Buffalo Plateau Trail, and you can stay the night at Hicks Park Campground. All through the summertime highs here at Burnt Gulch Lake get into the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures       all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's; night lows in the 10's for Burnt Gulch Lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you need a site to stay Super 8 Big Timber is a wonderful choice; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to close by Lake Columbine. Now, you may believe that's plenty but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Absaroka Range. There's so much to do here at Burnt Gulch Lake                  that you need to camp here for a while, Hells Canyon Campground is a great spot for that; soar down the rapids of Boulder River in a kayak. Columbine Creek is a stream that you may come across during your stay, and splendid hiking is available along the Thunderer Cutoff Trail. Whohoo, so many cool things in one place! The Absaroka Range is great!.
