Black Canyon is a beautiful lake but it is not a ''fun stop'' nor is beartooth glacier. Be prepared for high winds and a serious workout getting there. NOT FOR INEXPERIENCED HIKERS.

It's always fun to stop by Black Canyon Lake. High temperatures at Black Canyon Lake all through the long summer days are in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's while Black Canyon Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Absaroka Range. And if that's not enough there's plenty more entertaining things to do in the Absaroka

| | Range. Get your pulse rate up on the perfect whitewater of Clarks Fork Yellowstone River, and Mount Rearguard is clearly visible from Black Canyon Lake.
Just can't get enough of the Absaroka Range. There's so much to do here at Black Canyon Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Buena Vista Campground is a glorious place for that; the Beartooth Loop National Recreation Trail offers hiking at its best. is about average; June is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The snow is good at Red Lodge Mountain, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Black Canyon Lake; Beauty
Lake Trail is a nice local trail.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Bots Sots Campground is a great location to do that, and there's delightful hiking along the Beartooth Highlakes Trail. There are other spots here
than Black Canyon Lake, for example Timberline Lake; there's whitewater on Rosebud Creek - East for all you thrill seekers. This lake is so wonderful. Yodeler Motel is a great place to get some rest.
Not enough hours in a day
to enjoy this site. Lakes? Sure, Sheep Lake is in the vicinity, and don't leave Black Canyon Lake without first checking out Beartooth Glacier.
