Beaver Ponds is located in the Lewis Range. There's nice hiking along the Bear Gulch Trail; you must positively dedicate some time to Thompson Flats while you're here at Beaver Ponds. This lake is so wonderful. If you're here, you might as well stop by American Gulch. Bald Butte is beautiful and can be seen from Beaver Ponds, and if you're visiting from Helena, you won't be the only one. Beaver Ponds is typically       a rather dried out site; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month is July. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Beaver Ponds without first going for a hike along the Sweeney Creek Ecology Trail, and Cromwell Dixon Campground is a nice campground nearby. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Beaver Ponds. This site, the Lewis Range, has so much outdoors fun things. Beaver Ponds is a great location to visit for more than one day, MacDonald Pass Campground is a great location to camp nearby, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Great Divide is relatively near. At Beaver Ponds throughout the summer highs are in the 80's while night lows are frequently in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Beaver Ponds. If you love the outdoors you'll love it here in the Lewis Range.
