A normal amount of rain falls here at Basin Lake; during June this area sees the most rain; the driest month is October. This lake is one of the great places here in the Absaroka Range. During the summer months highs here at Basin Lake reach the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 30's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's; nighttime lows at Basin Lake all through the       wintertime usually descend into the 0's. All the outdoors enjoyable things in the Absaroka Range will keep you coming back over and over. After a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel Big Timber is a tremendous location to spend a night or two, and if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike along the Lake Reno Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Fox Creek Campground is a delightful campground here; get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Rosebud                  Creek - West. Going for a hike along the Crazy Lakes Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Clarks Fork Yellowstone. This place, Basin Lake, it just has so much outdoors cool stuff. The summit of Bald Knob can be seen from Basin Lake, and there are other places here than Basin Lake, for example Aquarius Lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Absaroka Range.
