Barrier Lake is one of the lakes here in the Absaroka Range. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. There is a splendid hiking trail near Barrier Lake called the Lodgepole Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel Big Timber. Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! The Absaroka Range rocks! Hells Canyon Campground is a great campground here, and one of the       major characteristics of the surroundings of Barrier Lake is Jordan Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Barrier Lake is delightful fun, Woodbine Campground is a delightful local campground, and in case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Boulder River. You're probably into lakes, Aufwuchs Lake is one of those close by; on a nice day you can take a hike along the Republic Trail. Summer at Barrier                  Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows through the wintertime for Barrier Lake tend to be in the 10's. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors entertaining stuff the Absaroka Range has to offer. Near Barrier Lake you hit upon the Thunderer Cutoff Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. Barrier Lake is a location that is rather arid frequently; most of the rain falls all through May; the driest of the months is February.
