The beauty of Axolotl Lake is reason enough to stop by. Cabin Creek Campground is a magnificent local campground; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Madison River. This is no location for people who don’t like to have fun. There are delightful places to look at along the Kirkwood Trail, and a spree to Potamogeton Park revitalizes the soul. Conference is a tremendous choice; a day on the slopes of Moonlight Basin is just what you need. Lakes are such peaceful places, why not go to Hebgen Reservoir in close proximity to Axolotl Lake, and the skiing at Big Sky is delightful.
Going for a hike on the Cutoff Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and Axolotl Lake is a good location to visit for more than one day, Beaver Creek Campground 2 is a good location to camp nearby. The vista of Boat Mountain from
