If you like lakes and you're in this part of Montana you can check out Avalanche Lake. There are other locations here than Avalanche Lake, for example Blue Danube Lake, and after a long day outdoors West Fork Cabins & Rv is a splendid site to spend a night or two. Don't leave Avalanche Lake without first going for a hike along the Wapiti Creek Trail, and Avalanche Lake is a good place to camp, Beaver Creek Campground 1 is a good place. There are glorious places to discover along the Cutoff Trail, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Big Sky. What a place this is for outdoors folks. Get wet paddling on Madison River, and you can go for a hike on the Lightning Creek Trail. Around Avalanche Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; June is the wettest month with most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture.

highs at Avalanche Lake generally tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the wintertime highs are mostly in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Avalanche Lake temperatures
plunge to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Hilgard Peak is a peak you can see from Avalanche Lake, and Rock Creek Campground is a great campground here.
