Many people like to go to Lake Aries. This lake is so wonderful. There's glorious hiking along the Thunderer Cutoff Trail, and Star Dust Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at. If you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel Big Timber is a perfect choice; you can go for a hike on the Republic Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. While you're here at Lake Aries, you could also go to wonderful Anvil Lake, and you can run the rapids of Stillwater

Having a good time in the Absaroka Range is easy. The summit of Courthouse Mountain can be distinguished from Lake Aries. There's so much to do here at Lake Aries that you need to camp here for a while, Colter Campground is a tremendous site for that. This lake is one of the great places here in the Absaroka Range. Good hiking is available along the Pilot Creek Trail; get your heart beating on the splendid whitewater of Clarks Fork Yellowstone. Lake Aries is mostly a reasonably dry location; May is
when you get the most rain here; February on the other hand is the driest. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Lake Aries, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Lake Aries dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.
