It's always fun to stop by Alpha Lake. Get covered with water paddling on Flathead River - Middle Fork, and the Doris Creek Trail offers hiking at its best. A scenic lake like Beta Lake next to Alpha Lake is a nice spot to take a look at; do pop by Aurora Creek if you're here at Alpha Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Alpha Lake has to offer, you can camp at South Lion Lake Campground, and there's pleasant hiking

| | along the Columbia Mountain Trail.
But wait, there's more to do near Alpha Lake. Interesting geology is available here; Devils Elbow is right next door to Alpha Lake. There's so much to do here at Alpha Lake that you need to camp here for a while, North Lion Lake Campground is a great site for that. This lake is so wonderful. High temperatures at Alpha Lake during the long summer days are in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are mostly in the 20's with temperatures at Alpha
Lake dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. A typical amount of rain falls here at Alpha Lake; the wettest month of the year is usually November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is July.
