     Not much precipitation falls here at Akokala Lake; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow while April is typically the driest month. And if that's not enough there's a lot more enjoyable stuff to do in the Lewis Range. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Big Mountain while you're here. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Akokala Lake has to offer, you can camp at Bowman Creek Campground. Akokala  
   Lake is a brilliant place to visit for more than one day, Bowman Lake Campground is a brilliant place to camp nearby, and going for a hike along the Numa Ridge Lookout Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region.
At Akokala Lake through the summer months highs are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 20's with temperatures at Akokala Lake dipping down into the 0's throughout
 
               winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Flathead River - Middle Fork offers some great whitewater. Lakes? Sure, Bowman Lake is in close proximity. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at close by Long Bow Lake, and hiking along the Akokala Lake Trail is nice fun.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Lewis Range. Now, you may feel that's a lot but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here in the Lewis Range. While you're here at Akokala Lake you can take a hike along the Quartz Lake Trail, and if the weather is beautiful, you obtain a pleasant sight of Reuter Peak from Akokala Lake.

Fabulously beautiful area, dense grizzly population and zero people.  Not too hard to get to crossing Flattop on bits of an obsolete trail from Fifty Mountain, then skirt along the open hills sides near Trapper Peak.  One scary steep hardpan ravine must be crossed where a slip would send you plunging 1000 feet down to Lake Nahsukin.  An axe would be helpful, otherwise just run real fast so your momentum will carry you to good footing on the far side....
