Why not stop by Aeneas Lake if you're passing through these parts. This lake is so wonderful. Aeneas Lake is not the only site close by, Birch Lake is a close by lake, and get dripping wet paddling on Swan River. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Lewis Range. Going for a hike along the Graves Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and if you came to camp Handkerchief Lake Campground is a magnificent spot to do that.

| | Aeneas Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Lid Creek Campground is a magnificent local campground, naturally you could also stop at Squaw Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. At Aeneas Lake through the warm months highs are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Aeneas Lake temperatures drop to the 10's. You think that's | |

sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Visiting Glacier National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and Glacier Park Super 8 Motel is a perfect site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Mount Aeneas
can be spotted from Aeneas Lake, and if you're here at Aeneas Lake it's a great idea to take a look at Jewel Basin. Soar down the rapids of Flathead River - Middle Fork in a kayak, and hiking along the Aeneas Creek Trail is wonderful
fun. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Lewis Range. If the weather is magnificent here at Aeneas Lake, you can go for a hike along the Wolf Creek Trail, and a good nearby hotel is Bridge Street Cottages. Aeneas Lake is located
in the Lewis Range. From a rain point of view Aeneas Lake is a reasonably typical location; all through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and July on the other hand is the driest.

Columbia Mountain Trail
 | 14 miles away It is a really easy climb! I think your dog also can walk. Succes....I have hiked this trail in summer with little work. However, I Tried it in march-09 and found it very difficult for several reasons. The snow was only 1 of many things....It is a pretty substantial hike for most. There is a 4000+ ft elevation gain to the top with a long flatish section midway. It is occasionally used by dirt bikes, but I've only ever seen one on the trail. Great views of the valley and the peaks of Glacier National Park....Not grueling at all. A very easy hike. Also not a peaceful walk.... |
