Not far from Thompson Lake, you'll come across Goose Lake which is a scenic lake; after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Vicksburg is a magnificent place to spend a night or two. Chickasaw Bayou Dam is an interesting thing to check out, and obviously Chickasaw Bayou flows through this area. This lake is so wonderful. The wonderful Walnut Hills is here at Thompson Lake, and Thompson       Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, River City RV Park is a good local campground. You get a great sight of Walnut Hills from Thompson Lake. There's so much to do here at Thompson Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Battlefield Kampground is a great location for that. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! Thompson Lake is excellent! Thompson Lake is not far at all from Vicksburg; a nice nearby hotel is Wingate by Wyndham Vicksburg.                  The high level of rainfall makes Thompson Lake a relatively wet spot; the month with most of the rain is March while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At Thompson Lake during the warm days of summer highs are in the 90's. Through the moonlight hours it's typically in the 70's.
