The high level of rain makes Speed Lake a rather wet site; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is October. This lake is so wonderful. Looking for some flowing water? Try Masons Creek, and you'll hit upon a pretty lake called       Scruggs Lake. High temperatures at Speed Lake during the warm days of summer are in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are frequently in the 50's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Speed Lake temperatures dip to the 30's. If you want a nice time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Speed Lake. Best Western Collins Inn & Suites is a tremendous site to get some rest, and there                  are plenty of people from Laurel here. A fine nearby hotel is Scottish Inns Taylorsville, and there's some exciting stuff to see at Charles Pickering Catfish Ponds Dam in the vicinity of Speed Lake.
