This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Lake-a-way Camp Grounds is always a perfect experience, and going for a hike on the Big Foot Trail is always a tremendous adventure. Gulf Islands National Seashore is a magnificent location near Horseshoe Lake, and the Black Creek Hiking Trail is a nice hiking trail close by. If you came to camp Soggy Bottom Canoe and Kayak is a good spot to do that, and don't forget to take       a fine little tour to Barney Branch. Near Horseshoe Lake you stumble on the Tuxachanie Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and a splendid nearby hotel is Best Western Woodstone. That right there is a heap already, but it goes on; Horseshoe Lake has it all. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites LUCEDALE is a tremendous place to spend a night or two. The high level of precipitation makes Horseshoe Lake a relatively wet site; of                  all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain; October is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the long summer days, highs mostly are in the 90's at Horseshoe Lake. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 70's.
