This lake is one of the great places here in the Ozarks. Lazy Acres Camp Ground & Rntl is a splendid local campground, and lakes are such serene spots, why not explore Lakes Famar. A day on the slopes of Hidden Valley is just what you need; you'll stumble on a pretty lake called Lakes Famar.
You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun stuff the area close to Turn-Bo Lake has to offer. All through the warm months, highs commonly are in the 90's at

| | Turn-Bo Lake. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Turn-Bo Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can have a look at Turn-Bo Dam; after a long day outdoors Quality Inn Near Six Flags St. Louis is a tremendous place to spend a night or two.

Lake Wauwanoka is not NEAR the Ozarks. It's a half-hour outside St. Louis and a good three t four hours from the Ozarks....We live in DeSoto, Mo. and would love to sail Lake Wauwanoka. Would that be possible?...My first memory visiting the lake was in 1956 at the age of five. Along with my parents and five other siblings we stayed with my grandmother in her small cottage. My father was put to work on home improvements and all of us were given small chores to help fix the cottage where she resided. Cousins, aunts and uncles would come out for a visit. Over the years to follow the lake sponsored summer events. July 4th, everyone decorated their canoes and pontoons. Our pontoon was decorated in a hawaiian theme. My cousins and I made grass skirts from the weeds that grew around the lake. Oh, did we itch but we won first place. Of all the memories of my summer visits one of my greatest was the box turtle that visited every morning for strawberries my grandmother gave him. She named him Joe. She painted a red streak on his back to identify him. Each year she would touch up the paint. For the next twenty years I visited, so did Joe.... |
