This is a tremendous neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Central Stone County Lake is a lake nearby, and if you're visiting from Hannibal, you won't be the only one. North River is a brilliant whitewater spot in the neighborhood of Sylvan Lake; if you need a location to stay Garth Woodside Mansion BNB is a splendid choice. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cedar

| | Creek. After a long day outdoors Quality Inn & Suites is a tremendous spot to spend a night or two. There's so much to do here at Sylvan Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Hillbillys Campground & Genera is a good site for that.
Yep, outdoors amusing stuff to do are in fact abundant here at Sylvan Lake. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Lake Hannibal; the Lick Creek Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close by. | |

An average amount of precipitation falls at Sylvan Lake; July is when you get the most rain here; February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. If you're a golfer then a nice nearby course is Jackson Park Golf
Course, and if you're interested in hydro structures, you can explore Gentry Dam.
All through the warm days of summer highs here at Sylvan Lake reach the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter comes with
highs in the 30's; nighttime lows during the wintertime for Sylvan Lake tend to be in the 10's. On a delightful day at Sylvan Lake you can take a hike along the Hickory Bluff Trail, and you can stay the night at Salt River Campground.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out.
