Smith Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. There's some exciting stuff to make out at Cedar Lake Dam near Smith Lake, and Devils Icebox is a pretty spot any time of year. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such peaceful places, why not go to Cedar Lake in the neighborhood of Smith Lake, and if you need a location to stay Regency Hotel Downtown is a perfect choice. All through the days of summer, highs mostly are in the 80's

| | at Smith Lake with overnight lows in the 60's. Highs throughout the wintertime are generally in the 30's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Smith Lake sink into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Cedar Creek Hiking Trail is always a splendid adventure. You assume that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. nearby. You'll find a pretty lake called Perry Phillips Lake near Smith Lake, and camping at Pine Grove Village MHP is always a splendid experience. Smith Lake is a good place of normal rainfall; May is the month that gets the
most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. Cave Creek is near Smith Lake and is always a delight to have a look at, and University of Missouri-Columbia Gustin Golf Course is a golf course close by. Smith Lake is
tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Cooper's Landing Campground is a tremendous local campground, and a tremendous close by hotel is Courtyard by Marriott Columbia Missouri.

 | There is a gage at Providence Rd, you can check water levels at this link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=06910230&agency_cd=USGS My unladen solo canoe can scoot by at 30cfs, any less than that and I'm dragging. ...As of 6/18/2008, there is nowhere near enough water in the stream at the put-in (or much of the rest of the stream) for any kind of paddle-craft....This is a fun, after work run when the water is moving. There are no defined rapids, although there are several modest playspots: 1)S-Turn, near the back of the Walmart site, and 2) The Ultimate Surfing Wave which is downstream from the Old 63 bridge. Hazards include two low water crossings in the Stephens Golf Course. Portage is highly recommended at high water as the crossings act as low head dams. Water quality in the Spring can be an issue and several boaters in years past have contracted leptosporosis (aka lepto) from involuntarily ingesting the water. Mostly the Hink' is a fun float on moving water with enough wave action and eddys to keep things interesting. Suitable for canoes and kayaks. ... |
