Slabtown Lake is a nice lake to visit. You don’t have to go far from Slabtown Lake to see the water at Slabtown Dam, and lakes are such calm places, why not explore Harke Lake. Slabtown Lake is one of the lakes here in the Ozarks. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of people from Fort Leonard Wood here. All the water falling down from the sky makes Slabtown Lake a wet location; throughout May this area sees the most rain while January is the month

| | with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Candlewood Suites St. Robert is a great choice, and you can stay the night at Paddy Creek Campground. Summertime highs at Slabtown Lake frequently tend to be in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Slabtown Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. But wait, | |

there's more exciting stuff to do in the Ozarks. Don't forget to take a brilliant little tour to Big Paddy Creek, and do take a hike on the Big Piney Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Slabtown Lake is a fine spot
to visit for more than one day, Cave Eddy Campground is a fine spot to camp nearby, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Slabtown Bluff Trail. Slabtown Lake is right by the Paddy Creek Trail, and do put some time aside to
spend at Slabtown Spring if you're here at Slabtown Lake. Having a glorious time in the Ozarks is trouble-free. Dry warm beds await you at Knights Inn St Robert, and you'll hit upon a pretty lake called Roby Lake.

Big Piney National Scenic Trail

Kaintuck Trail
 | 16 miles away ... trail is one of the largest I have ever seen. From the top, you will not know that you are on a bridge. From the bottom it looks like a large, deep cave through which light doesn't travel because of a bend in the tunnel. Follow the trail around the hill and you will find the other opening. Next time I will bring a flashlight so that I can explore a little.
The trails are popular with horseback riders and are as wide as sidewalks most of the time. In most places and the footing is good. A small percentage of the trail is made up of loose rock that can be bad for a weak ankle.
My only complaint is that the map I have is not accurate and the markers on the trees don't lend much confidence. Today I wound up walking an extra two hours because of a wrong turn. Looking at the Internet maps, I still can't find the path I was walking or the fenced meadows. In one spot the trail went through a chained gate. I didn't know if I would be trespassing so I turned right, followed a path around the field and found myself on some dirt road that is not marked. Maybe the next t... |
