This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Silver Lake that you need to camp here for a while, State Of Missouri is a glorious place for that, and unsurprisingly, this is a brilliant area for folks who like lakes, Phantom Lake is a lake close at hand. All through the long summer days, highs usually are in the 80's at Silver Lake. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the
40's; overnight lows in the 10's for Silver Lake. So much fun stuff to do at Silver Lake, so little time. If you're visiting Silver Lake from Farmington, you won't be the only one, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Bonne Terre is a nice place to spend a night or two.
This lake is located in the wonderful Ozarks. Silver Lake gets a typical amount of rain; May is when you get the most rain here while February is usually the driest month. There's some

Lake Wauwanoka
11 miles away
Lake Wauwanoka is not NEAR the Ozarks. It's a half-hour outside St. Louis and a good three t four hours from the Ozarks....We live in DeSoto, Mo.  and would love to sail Lake Wauwanoka. Would that be possible?...My first memory visiting the lake was in 1956 at the age of five. Along with my parents and five other siblings we stayed with my grandmother in her small cottage. My father was put to work on home improvements and all of us were given small chores to help fix the cottage where she resided. Cousins, aunts and uncles would come out for a visit. Over the years to follow the lake sponsored summer events. July 4th, everyone decorated their canoes and pontoons. Our pontoon was decorated in a hawaiian theme. My cousins and I made grass skirts from the weeds that grew around the lake. Oh, did we itch but we won first place. Of all the memories of my summer visits one of my greatest was the box turtle that visited every morning for strawberries my grandmother gave him. She named him Joe. She painted a red streak on his back to identify him. Each year she would touch up the paint. For the next twenty years I visited, so did Joe....

why drain a national park's lake? this is all we have up here and now there is little left! STOP the draining of our lake! there are animals dieing because of it! there was also more money spent here in north dakota when the lake was a lot fuller. come look and see what damage your stupid missouri is costing at the lake! i go there every year and more and more water is gone for what? notheing! now that there is not a lot of water left people have to find a a different place to go. they cant even keep there boats at fort stevenson because it is BONE DRY! missouri, you need to close down your falls because there is more money made here and it not fair that a NATIONAL PARK Can Not survive because of you!! there should be no reason why a NAtional park should close. also the lake was here before your stupid idea even came around. there for it is our right to protect what we have:our future, homes, and last but not least, our lake and population....
