     Take a side spree to Fox River, and dry warm beds await you at Fairfield Inn Keokuk. Bear Creek has a great whitewater paddling spot close by; if you need a place to stay Super 8 Keokuk is a magnificent choice. If you get bored of Silver Lake, you could also have a look at nearby Stone Pond, and close by you locate the Locust Lane Nature Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. During your tour to Silver Lake you'll meet some people from Keokuk-Fort Madison  
   for sure, and Mud Slough is a nearby lake that you could pop by.
This lake is so wonderful. Do explore Pickens Lake Dam while you're here at Silver Lake, and camping at Hickory Haven Campground is always a good experience. This lake is so wonderful. A good place to take a look at right next door to Silver Lake is Willow Bar. This place, Silver Lake, it absolutely has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff.                place to camp here at Silver Lake is Camp Hickory Haven.
Throughout the summertime highs here at Silver Lake get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are usually in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Silver Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. From a precipitation point of view Silver Lake is a relatively typical place; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is when it's the driest.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
