    Beautiful Silver Lake has much to offer visitors. Lakes are brilliant; Mud Slough is a lake that's near Silver Lake, and Willow Bar is definitely a fine place to stop at. Pickens Lake Dam is a spot that is close to Silver Lake, and if you need a location to stay Fairfield Inn By Marriott Keokuk is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of folks from Keokuk-Fort Madison here at Silver Lake, and Keokuk Super 8 Motel is a fine place to get  
   some rest.
This lake is so wonderful. Get drenched paddling on Cedar Creek. Silver Lake is a good place of common rain; July is when you get the most rain here; February is when it's the driest. Hickory Haven Campground is a splendid local campground, and do take a hike on the Locust Lane Nature Trail.
During the summertime highs here at Silver Lake reach the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 60's. Highs during the winter are regularly in the 30's,
 
               and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Silver Lake sink into the 10's. A quick visit to Fox River next to Silver Lake is a magnificent idea, and not far from Silver Lake you'll hit upon Stone Pond which is a picturesque lake. What a location this is for outdoors people. Camp Hickory Haven is a brilliant campground nearby, and paddling on Bear Creek is so much fun.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
