There is a magnificent hiking trail in close proximity to Shy Lake called the Taum Sauk Trail, and a spree to Ozark National Scenic River is worthwhile. All the water falling down from the sky makes Shy Lake a wet place; most of the rain falls during March; the driest month of the year is January. Shy Lake is located in the Ozarks. A great place in close proximity to Shy Lake is Des Acre Hollow,       and you obtain a tremendous vista of Des Arc Mountain from here. This lake is so wonderful. All through the months of summer, highs frequently are in the 90's at Shy Lake, and the night is a bit colder of course, mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and night lows in the 10's for Shy Lake. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Ozarks. Paddling on Crane Pond Creek is so much fun, also Shy Lake Dam is worth checking                  out since you're here. Just can't get enough of the Ozarks. Big Creek RV Park is a splendid local campground; since you're here you can take a hike along the Crane Lake Trail. Any time is a tremendous time at Shy Lake if you adore the outdoors. Shy Lake is a nice place to visit for more than one day, Sam A Baker State Park is a nice place to camp nearby, and Big Creek has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful.
