    Beautiful Shepherd Mountain Lake has much to offer visitors. Shepherd Mountain Lake gets a normal amount of annual rainfall; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while January is ordinarily the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Shepherd Mountain Lake you'll probably meet some people from Farmington, and not far from Shepherd Mountain Lake you get some glorious water scenery at Shepard Mountain Dam. Just can't get enough of the  
   Ozarks. Near Shepherd Mountain Lake you find a golf course called Arcadia Valley Country Club, and Shepherd Mountain Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Parks Bluff Campground is a wonderful local campground.
I don't want to stop, cause I'm havin' a nice time here at Shepherd Mountain Lake. The summit of College Hill can be observed from Shepherd Mountain Lake; a nice place for whitewater paddling is Stouts Creek. This lake is so wonderful.
 
               Buckner Branch flows through this region; a great close by hotel is Farmington - Days Inn. Now, you may assume that's a heap but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Shepherd Mountain Lake.
Snow Hollow Lake is a perfect lake close to Shepherd Mountain Lake, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Taum Sauk Trail. And if that's not enough there's a lot more cool stuff to do in the Ozarks. A pretty lake like Pilot Knob Pellet Company Lake Number 2 close to Shepherd Mountain Lake is a wonderful place to visit, and Carver Creek is a delightful whitewater spot nearby. While you're here at Shepherd Mountain Lake you can take a hike along the Silver Mine Trail. There's so much to do here at Shepherd Mountain Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Big Creek RV Park is a glorious place for that.
Going for a hike along the Crane Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Farmington, Mo is a great place to get some rest. This lake is one of the great places here in the Ozarks. Summertime at Shepherd Mountain Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Shepherd Mountain Lake temperatures plunge to the 20's.

why drain a national park's lake? this is all we have up here and now there is little left! STOP the draining of our lake! there are animals dieing because of it! there was also more money spent here in north dakota when the lake was a lot fuller. come look and see what damage your stupid missouri is costing at the lake! i go there every year and more and more water is gone for what? notheing! now that there is not a lot of water left people have to find a a different place to go. they cant even keep there boats at fort stevenson because it is BONE DRY! missouri, you need to close down your falls because there is more money made here and it not fair that a NATIONAL PARK Can Not survive because of you!! there should be no reason why a NAtional park should close. also the lake was here before your stupid idea even came around. there for it is our right to protect what we have:our future,homes, and last but not least, our lake and population....

Council Bluff lake is a great place for swimming and afterward eat a yummy dinner in Arcadia Valley and stay at the nostalgic place bed and breakfast in Arcadia. Nostalgic Place is a favorite for many hikers after long days on the trail. Their beds are heavenly and they treat you like family. Check out their website at www.nostalgicplace.com it is awesome...............I have never seen white water on the Black River. I have on the St. Francios....
