If you came to camp Hickory Haven Campground is a delightful location to do that; if the weather is glorious, you can go for a hike along the Locust Lane Nature Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Canton is a nice choice; if you don’t have                  a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cedar Creek. If you want a glorious time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Schlotter Lake. Fairfield Inn Keokuk is a nice site to get some rest, obviously you could also stop by Baxter Ponds since you're here; it's not far at all. From a rain point of view Schlotter Lake is a reasonably normal place; through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.
