| | of Lac Renee, and camping is available at St Joe State Park. This lake is so wonderful. Do check out Lac Renee Dam if you're here at Lac Renee, and there are other locations here than Lac Renee, for example Lac Michel. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Ozarks. Super 8 Potosi is a good place to get some rest; a perfect nearby hotel is Super 8 Bonne Terre. Be careful coming to Lac Renee, you might not ever want to go back home | |

again. You're sure to encounter some wonderful people from Farmington here, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Brewers Creek. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Stouts Creek,
and a round of golf at nearby Terre Du Lac Country Club is a great way to kill some time. Camping at Cherokee Landing is always a nice experience, and you can have a good hiking adventure along the Taum Sauk Trail. From a precipitation
point of view Lac Renee is a reasonably common place; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful.

Lake Sacajawea
 | 10 miles away why drain a national park's lake? this is all we have up here and now there is little left! STOP the draining of our lake! there are animals dieing because of it! there was also more money spent here in north dakota when the lake was a lot fuller. come look and see what damage your stupid missouri is costing at the lake! i go there every year and more and more water is gone for what? notheing! now that there is not a lot of water left people have to find a a different place to go. they cant even keep there boats at fort stevenson because it is BONE DRY! missouri, you need to close down your falls because there is more money made here and it not fair that a NATIONAL PARK Can Not survive because of you!! there should be no reason why a NAtional park should close. also the lake was here before your stupid idea even came around. there for it is our right to protect what we have:our future, homes, and last but not least, our lake and population.... |
Lake Wauwanoka
 | 18 miles away Lake Wauwanoka is not NEAR the Ozarks. It's a half-hour outside St. Louis and a good three t four hours from the Ozarks....We live in DeSoto, Mo. and would love to sail Lake Wauwanoka. Would that be possible?...My first memory visiting the lake was in 1956 at the age of five. Along with my parents and five other siblings we stayed with my grandmother in her small cottage. My father was put to work on home improvements and all of us were given small chores to help fix the cottage where she resided. Cousins, aunts and uncles would come out for a visit. Over the years to follow the lake sponsored summer events. July 4th, everyone decorated their canoes and pontoons. Our pontoon was decorated in a hawaiian theme. My cousins and I made grass skirts from the weeds that grew around the lake. Oh, did we itch but we won first place. Of all the memories of my summer visits one of my greatest was the box turtle that visited every morning for strawberries my grandmother gave him. She named him Joe. She painted a red streak on his back to identify him. Each year she would touch up the paint. For the next twenty years I visited, so did Joe.... |
