A visit to Otahki Lake is always a good idea. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Johnson Natural Area Backpack Trail. Otahki Lake gets a good deal of water; most of the rain falls throughout March, and the driest month is January. That right there is heaps already, but it continues; Otahki Lake has it all. Don't leave Otahki Lake without first going for a hike along the Crane Lake Trail; get drenched paddling on Big Creek. So much amusing stuff

It's awesome....
Big Creek
I kayaked the big creek May 5 at 3ft from Des Arc to Sam A. Baker take out at 143 bridge, it was an 11 mile float and very enjoible for Missouri waters. There were whitewater sections about every 1/4 mile and was all under class II, the rock gardens kept me on my toes but was not difficult at all. I would recomend trying this creek (river) to anyone seeking excitment and is not to experienced to try the St. Francis. Cheers!...
Crane Pond Creek
11 miles away How far are the class III & IV rapids from Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar, 1285 Estate Dr. Ridgedale, MO 65739...
Lower Rock Creek
13 miles away Been here and there is not a good put-in site for a boat. The creek is one mile from where you can park a car unless it's right next to the St Francis river and that means you won't be kayaking down this creek. Which is impossible unless there is serious rainfall....
