     The Locust Lane Nature Trail is a great hiking trail right next door to O'Farre Lake. You'll need more than a day to discover everything O'Farre Lake has to offer, you can camp at Camp Hickory Haven. If you need a place to stay Hampton Inn Keokuk is a great choice. An average amount of precipitation falls at O'Farre Lake; all through the month of July you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is February. A lake nearby is Long Lake, and O'Farre  
   Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Hickory Haven Campground is a great place to camp nearby.
Man, is there heaps of exciting stuff to do in the vicinity of O'Farre Lake. During your visit to O'Farre Lake you'll meet some people from Quincy for sure, and Long Pond is a nearby lake that you could check out. During the warm months here at O'Farre Lake, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's.
 
               The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while O'Farre Lake nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Canton, and if you come at the right time of year, Cedar Creek offers some great whitewater.
The scenery at Baxter Lake Dam in the neighborhood of O'Farre Lake is striking; get yourself into a kayak and hit Bear Creek.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
