Summertime highs at Murphy Lake commonly tend to be in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, mostly in the 60's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Murphy Lake fall into the 10's. The cheerful folks of Keokuk-Fort Madison like to hang out nearby, and Riverview Campground is a great campground nearby. There's some       out of the ordinary stuff to see at Murphy Lake Dam next to Murphy Lake, and the Indian Lake Park Trail offers hiking at its best. Catfish Place Campgrounds and Restaurant is a fine local campground, and a fine nearby hotel is Keokuk Super 8 Motel. This lake is so wonderful. Linn Creek is a charming stream that is worth checking out, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Shimek Forest Trail. From a rainfall point of view Murphy Lake is a rather normal                  site; most of the rain falls through July, and February is when it's the driest.
