Looking for something near Lac Michel? Lac Darcie is nearby, and a nice close by hotel is Super 8 Potosi. This lake is so wonderful. High temperatures at Lac Michel all through the months of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and nighttime lows at Lac Michel through the wintertime generally dip into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at St Joe State Park,

A common amount of rain falls here at Lac Michel; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Lots of folks from Farmington come to Lac Michel, and Brewers Creek is a splendid whitewater spot close by. STOP the draining of our lake! there are animals dieing because of it! there was also more money spent here in north dakota when the lake was a lot fuller. come look and see what damage your stupid missouri is costing at the lake! i go there every year and more and more water is gone for what? notheing! now that there is not a lot of water left people have to find a a different place to go. they cant even keep there boats at fort stevenson because it is BONE DRY! missouri, you need to close down your falls because there is more money made here and it not fair that a NATIONAL PARK Can Not survive because of you!! there should be no reason why a NAtional park should close. also the lake was here before your stupid idea even came around. there for it is our right to protect what we have:our future,homes, and last but not least, our lake and population.... |
Lake Wauwanoka
 | 18 miles away Lake Wauwanoka is not NEAR the Ozarks. It's a half-hour outside St. Louis and a good three t four hours from the Ozarks....We live in DeSoto, Mo. and would love to sail Lake Wauwanoka. Would that be possible?...My first memory visiting the lake was in 1956 at the age of five. Along with my parents and five other siblings we stayed with my grandmother in her small cottage. My father was put to work on home improvements and all of us were given small chores to help fix the cottage where she resided. Cousins, aunts and uncles would come out for a visit. Over the years to follow the lake sponsored summer events. July 4th, everyone decorated their canoes and pontoons. Our pontoon was decorated in a hawaiian theme. My cousins and I made grass skirts from the weeds that grew around the lake. Oh, did we itch but we won first place. Of all the memories of my summer visits one of my greatest was the box turtle that visited every morning for strawberries my grandmother gave him. She named him Joe. She painted a red streak on his back to identify him. Each year she would touch up the paint. For the next twenty years I visited, so did Joe.... |
