If you are in Marion county it's always a good idea to stop by McKay Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because American Legion Golf Course is in the neighborhood, and you'll possibly meet some people from Hannibal here. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to McKay Lake. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are typically in the

| | 30's; nighttime lows at McKay Lake during the winter typically dip into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Hannibal Super 8 Motel is a nice place to get some rest, and you can stay the night at Injun Joe Campground. A tremendous close by hotel is Econo Lodge Hannibal; if you're here, you could also have a look at pretty Bear Creek Reservoir. Lake, and you can run the rapids of Fall Creek. Harrison Hill is clearly visible from McKay Lake, and McKay Dam has perfect water scenery. A glorious site for whitewater paddling near McKay Lake is Cedar Creek, and if you're here
why not stop at Rickey Hollow. Bay De Charles is a nearby lake that you could go to; McKay Lake is a magnificent location to visit for more than one day, Bayview Camper's Park is a magnificent location to camp nearby. McKay Lake
gets a typical amount of annual rain; the wettest month of the year is usually July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February.

Cedar Creek
 | 12 miles away 1 PHOTO In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out.
