     You can run the rapids of Bear Creek close to Marks Lake, and lakes are such serene locations, why not visit Willer Lake Section 32. Marks Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Hickory Haven Campground is a pleasant local campground. Fairfield Inn Keokuk is a tremendous location to get some rest, and a great place for whitewater paddling is Cedar Creek. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Marks Lake. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's  
   ordinarily in the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's; nighttime lows at Marks Lake during the wintertime generally fall into the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. A wonderful lake like Uhlmeyer Lake in the vicinity of Marks Lake is a magnificent place to stop at, and if you need a spot to stay Comfort Inn Canton is a good choice. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Marks Lake; through July this area sees the most rain; the driest month
 
               of the year is February. A quick journey to Crooked Creek in the neighborhood of Marks Lake is a tremendous idea, and the scenery at Marks Lake Dam is delightful.
Man, is there a lot of fun stuff to do near Marks Lake. A glorious place to camp here at Marks Lake is Camp Hickory Haven, and lots of people from Keokuk-Fort Madison come here.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
