The amount of rainfall that falls at Long Pond is close to the national average; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Camp Hickory Haven; Baxter Lake Dam is a gorgeous spot, absolutely worth going to. Have a wonderful hiking adventure along the Locust Lane Nature Trail, and during your       tour here you'll meet some folks from Quincy for sure. If you need a site to stay Keokuk Super 8 Motel is a great choice, and camping at Hickory Haven Campground is always a good experience. This lake is so wonderful. The warmest time of the year at Long Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Long Pond. A quick                  visit to Doe Run close to Long Pond is a splendid idea. Lakes? Sure, Round Pond is nearby. Dry warm beds await you at Fairfield Inn By Marriott Keokuk, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Cedar Creek. You assume that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up.
