     Why not camp at Camp Hickory Haven while you're here at Long Pond, and if you need a site to stay Comfort Inn Canton is a brilliant choice. If you're here at Long Pond, you could have a look at Doe Run, and in case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Bear Creek. Fairfield Inn Keokuk is a magnificent spot to get some rest, and Baxter Lake Dam is pretty. Near Long Pond you discover the Locust Lane Nature Trail  
   which is a great hiking trail, and if you get bored of Long Pond you could also visit nearby Round Pond.
This lake is so wonderful. Long Pond is a good place of normal rain; July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is February. This place, Long Pond, it completely has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Whitewater paddling is great on Cedar Creek, and you're sure to stumble upon some good people from Quincy here.

               Camping is available at Hickory Haven Campground, and a lake close by is Baxter Ponds. At Long Pond during the summer highs are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Long Pond fall into the 10's.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
