     Get your pulse rate up on the glorious whitewater of Cedar Creek, and don't forget to take a wonderful little spree to Doe Run. A delightful nearby hotel is Fairfield Inn Keokuk. This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Bear Creek, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Quincy here. Long Lake gets a typical amount of yearly precipitation; July is the wettest month with  
   most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.
All through the warm days of summer at Long Lake highs are generally in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Long Lake are in the 10's. A delightful site to camp here at Long Lake is Hickory Haven Campground, and you're in all probability interested in lakes, Baxter Lake is one of those nearby.
 
               The scenery at Baxter Lake Dam near Long Lake is gorgeous, and why not camp at Camp Hickory Haven since you're here at Long Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Canton is a splendid choice; unsurprisingly, this is a great area for folks who like lakes, Buck-Doe Run Watershed Lake Number 25 is a lake in the vicinity.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
