     If you're visiting Lloyd Lake South from Quincy, you won't be the only one, and Bear Creek is a pleasant whitewater spot close by. And if that's not enough, there's heaps more to do near Lloyd Lake South. Buck Run is next to Lloyd Lake South and is always a joy to explore; a good site to camp here at Lloyd Lake South is City of Keokuk Campground. At Lloyd Lake South through the warm months highs are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's.  
   All through the winter highs are commonly in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Lloyd Lake South. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Lloyd Lake South you obtain some glorious water scenery at Lock and Dam Number Twenty, and Lloyd Lake South is good enough to spend more than a day at, Valley View Mobile Home Park is a good local campground.
Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Canton. This is a brilliant neighborhood for folks
 
               who like lakes. Bruns Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and in case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cedar Creek. Lloyd Lake South is a good spot of normal precipitation; the month with most of the rain is July while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Lloyd Lake North is right next door to Lloyd Lake South, and if you need a spot to stay Days Inn Quincy is a great choice.

In response to keith's note. I've kayaked Cedar Creek several times. During heavy rain events the creek is VERY wild. And while yes it is bony, it's a fun ride.. especially since it's one of the only places to get above a class II ride around quincy. Additionally, DO NOT go to bear creek unless you plan on doing some flat water near where it meets the mississippi river. Any further upstream and you'll be dealing with hostile landowners who aren't aware of the navigability laws in illinois. You'll probably be met by a sherrif on the take out. See uploaded picture of cedar creek a couple of years ago....
